Long-time team member, Rebecca Allen has been promoted to Team Lead! Help us say congratulations for her achievement and check out all the reasons she exemplifies the Eclectic Eye mission.
Full Name: Rebecca Lynne Allen
I am a University of Memphis alum. Go Tigers! My responsibilities at Eclectic Eye include inventory management, displays, new staff training, event planning, patient flow, sales, etc.
I enjoy volunteering with Old English Sheepdog Rescue of the Southeast.
Vintage clothing, reading, travel, elephants, Old English Sheepdogs and all things Disney!
What is something noteworthy you’ve been a part of?
I was on a Memphis Roller Derby team called the Women of Mass Destruction for nearly three seasons. I started off on a VERY basic level, but really enjoyed the competition, training and the support offered by the members to someone who never played a team sport before.
What are some of your favorite things to do in Memphis?
I love going to the Memphis Zoo and eating out at local restaurants. My favorite is Golden India in Overton Square. My husband and I also enjoy walking in the Central Gardens neighborhood, hitting up Muddy’s Grindhouse for cupcakes or pie, and enjoying live music at The Levitt Shell.
How long have you lived in Memphis?
I lived in Memphis from just before kindergarten through the fifth grade, then we moved. Memphis always felt like home to me, so I came back to attend the University of Memphis and I have now lived here for nearly 18 years.
What are some destinations on your bucket list?
Visiting Scandinavia. My husband and I both recently both got our passports and spent 10 days traveling throughout western Canada as a test run for our international travel plans. We have an ambitious goal of spending two weeks traveling through Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark next August! We are also looking forward to exploring our own country’s national parks, including Yellowstone.
What do you enjoy most about working at Eclectic Eye?
I really enjoy the personal connections made with not only our clients, but also the family that we have cultivated with our staff here. Working in this type of environment allows us all to grow, and expand our networks and customer service skills. I also love the commitment to community that Eclectic Eye has become known for over the years.
I am incredibly excited for this opportunity to grow with this amazing company and be a leader for change in the Greater Memphis area—not only with eyewear, but also with the community outreach that Eclectic Eye does so well!
