Pantone Color of the Year: Ultra Violet

Pantone has released the 2018 Color of the Year, Ultra Violet. The shade is said to promote ingenuity and create an atmosphere of looking towards the future. According to Pantone’s website, the vibrant color is said to have “a mystic or spiritual quality” associated with mindfulness practices and seeking refuge from overstimulation in today’s world. We all come in contact with shocking news stories and real-life issues every single day, so here are some suggestions to make this calming color work for you!

Recently, I unknowingly painted my living room a deep, but vibrant shade of purple (almost ultra violet), and it has reduced the stress level in that room. Who knew?

Also, many meditation spaces incorporate this calming tone to help during relaxation.

Sometimes even Mother Nature senses that you need a calming environment and sends you beautiful vistas like this!

Even the legendary musician, Prince was known for his association with the color. In his iconic single, “Purple Rain,” he wrote:

“Honey, I know, I know
I know times are changing
It’s time we all reach out
For something new, that means you too” – Prince
