Eclectic Eye is hiring an Eyewear Architect!

The Eyewear Architect is responsible for fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses. Eclectic Eye is a fun, small, family-owned business with a passion for our local community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Delivers “above and beyond” customer service. Maintains records, schedules appointments, and performs bookkeeping, correspondence and filing. May prepare patient for vision examination.
  • Possesses expert level knowledge of fitting standards, individual frame lines and current trends.
  • Interprets prescriptions written by ophthalmologists and optometrists. Assists patient in frame and lens selections including tints and coatings.
  • Adjusts and repairs glasses and frames.
  • Instructs patient in care and use of glasses or contact lenses.
  • Processes and tracks customer orders.
  • Assists retail manager with monthly inventory and maintenance. Helps maintain store appearance and develops merchandising strategies.
  • May be required to lock and secure the store.
  • Comfortable using a Lensometer.
  • Average to above average optician skills.
  • Can perform an eyewear analysis with assistance.
  • Participates in all social media to promote Eclectic Eye.

  • Statement matching/invoice preparing.
  • All daily, weekly and monthly duties and inventories.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.  

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software, order processing systems, Word, Excel, and Outlook in average proficiency.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

No requirements for hiring, but the below path to certification is expected.

  • ABO should be earned within one year
  • NCLE should be earned with two years.
  • Enrolled in Tennessee apprenticeship program within one year.
