A native Memphian, artist and mother of two teenage boys, Jamie uses art to exercise freedom and self-expression. Her show, titled “Natural Abstractions,” features 2-D paintings and paper mí¢chí© wall art that highlight her study of leaves, dying leaves and water.
Jamie strives to incorporate as many reclaimed items as possible in her paper mí¢chí© pieces, using materials like the fronts, sides and backs of dresser drawers as her canvas. She uses newspapers, flour and water, and allows the natural shadows created by directional lighting to guide her painting. to
