Memphis is a city known for its food, specifically BBQ, but the food scene is evolving very quickly to feature more diverse options. Memphis is home to all sorts of innovative restaurants exhibiting a fusion of cuisines that mirror the wonderful diversity of our city. One of my favorite spots to eat, Raw Girls, is located right in our parking lot! Raw Girls is a completely raw and vegan food trailer that serves up some of the city’s very best soups, salads, entrees and cold-pressed juices. The flavor profiles that Amy and Hannah Pickle, the founders of Raw Girls, explore are truly inspired.
Raw Girls started in Amy’s and Hannah’s kitchen. They wanted to prepare healthy vegan fare that they could enjoy. Amy (a chef trained at the Culinary Institute of America) knew just where to begin. They brought to life recipes like their Curry Dahl and Taco Salad. They also created a killer dessert menu with delicious treats like Pumpkin Pie and a Blackberry, Blueberry and Raspberry Cobbler that is out of this world. Their juices are so fresh and crisp, and their CBD shots vary from energizing to relaxing. After spending time innovating in their kitchen, they decided it was only fair to introduce these delicious culture-crossing vegan items to the community-at-large.
They started with a delivery service, which quickly led to two food trailers. One is in our parking lot on South Cooper Street in the heart of Midtown, Memphis and the other is in East Memphis at Poplar and Yates in the parking lot of Hollywood Feed. They recently announced the opening of a collaborated storefront with City & State, which will be located in the Shops of Saddle Creek. I, for one, am very excited to see two of my favorite spots combine. I know that I can look forward to something truly innovative from this pairing.
