Caring for your Eyewear

Thanks for choosing Eclectic Eye for your new eyewear — we’re thrilled to have you! To help you get the most out of your glasses, here are a few simple tips for cleaning them the right way. Proper care not only keeps your lenses clear and your frames looking sharp, but it also helps them last for years to come.

  • Avoid leaving your eyewear in excessive heat or extreme cold. Do not keep your eyewear in your car. Extreme temperatures can damage the lenses and cause the frame material to warp and/or become brittle.
  • Never lay eyewear face down so they are in contact with the surface. Fold the temples in and lay them lenses up at all times.
  • Clean your frame and lenses with a soft cloth, mild soap and water, or lens cleaning solution. Avoid using pre-moistened wipes designed for lens cleaning. These can scratch your lenses if using them regularly. Avoid lens cleaning solution with alcohol or excessive chemical additives.
  • Do not clean your lenses with a cloth that has been laundered using fabric softener. These chemicals will make the lenses harder to clean and degrade the lens over time.
  • You can use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe away smudges from your lenses—but make sure there’s no dust or debris on them first, as that can cause scratches. To keep your cloth clean, you can hand wash or machine wash it, but skip the dryer to preserve its quality.
  • If you carry your microfiber cloth with you, make sure it stays clean. To keep it effective, store it in a small bag or pouch. Dust and debris can build up on the cloth and potentially scratch your lenses.
  • Avoid contract with ammonia, household cleaners, hair spray, or any abrasive substance.
  • If your glasses are not on your face they should be in the case.

Filling your Eclectic Eye prescription elsewhere-

If you have your eye exam with an Eclectic Eye optometrist but choose to fill your prescription elsewhere, please note that we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the eyewear provided by another retailer. If you believe your prescription needs adjusting, Eclectic Eye will gladly re-evaluate it as a courtesy within 30 days of the original prescription date. While most reputable optical shops honor doctor prescription changes at no extra cost, it’s important to check their policies before making your purchase.

Eclectic Eye frames taken elsewhere for prescription lenses-

In certain cases, a frame manufacturer’s warranty is only valid if the lenses are made by an Eclectic Eye lens technician. If you’re planning to have your prescription filled elsewhere, be sure to speak with an Eyewear Architect first to understand how this could affect your warranty. Keep in mind that warranties cover manufacturer defects only. If your frame is damaged by another lab or optical provider, repair or replacement will not be covered.
