If you work at Eclectic Eye you become obsessed with all of the frames and want to buy every pair. Eventually, you are able to build up your eyewear wardrobe, but there will always be something special about the first frame you chose. We all have our different reasons of why we fell in love with our first frames. Maybe it was as simple as the color or shape that drew us to our first pair. Or, perhaps it was of the story of the designers who created it that inspired us to want it. These details make a frame from Eclectic Eye so much more meaningful. We believe that eyewear can be thought of as art for your face and a true expression of your personality. Take a trip down memory lane with us as we share our first frame stories!
Randall started with Eclectic Eye in 2002 and chose a Click 12 rimless drilled frame (much like the Swissflex frame line we currently carry). This frame is an optician’s dream because you can truly design it yourself! It is a modern style with no metal or screws. You can interchange the pieces with different colors on the bridge, temple and hinge. Randall had fun choosing the shape of his lenses and added a custom 10% khaki tint. This tint brightened his world visually, and cosmetically it looks fantastic against his skin.
Lindy, our retail manager, has been wearing glasses for years! She had a new-found knowledge of the optical industry when she started with Eclectic Eye, and for the first time she was an educated shopper. She chose the very sassy La Font Burlesque in cherry red. She was learning a lot about prescriptions and how glasses should fit. This size and shape was perfect for her higher prescription. Before gaining extensive optical knowledge, she used to pick frames because she thought they were cute. Working at Eclectic Eye is the first time she took into consideration prescription, but also paired it with a frame that flatters her face.
Dr. Maybee couldn’t help herself when she saw the new “Camilia” color in the ever-popular ST. LOUIS sunglass by KREWE. It was love at first sight when this beauty arrived from New Orleans. It was summertime and that unique rose gold mirror was a huge draw for her. She enjoys wearing this frame with her contact lenses, especially at the beach!
Taylor loves her SALT LANDRY frame in melon. She was drawn to the classic shape with the keyhole bridge. The color of this frame goes with everything and anything! It looks great against her olive skin tone and makes her brown eyes pop.
Rebecca is the queen of vintage! She looks fantastic in her 1950’s American Optical frame from Retrospecs. She loves the comfort it gives her, and of course the fact that it is purely vintage. The fade from black to translucent crystal provides dimension and the scrolling details at the top give it some serious feminine attitude.
Erika had to have the MOSCOT LEMTOSH in blue sapphire, as she was drawn to the history behind it. MOSCOT, a five-generation family owned company, has been around for over a hundred years making eyewear. They started selling glasses on a pushcart on the streets of New York many years ago. The LEMTOSH is one of their oldest original designs that is still popular today, so as an optician, she had to have this frame in her eyewear collection.
Chris, our lab specialist, chose the Bevel Hand of God. He chose this frame first and foremost for the comfort it gave him, but he was also a huge fan of the titanium spring hinge design that Bevel does so well. This semi-rimless frame with the matte grey and light sky blue on the backside goes with anything, but still has plenty of wow factors. Chris said this frame got him dipping his toes into more funky styles!
Shannon, our newest team member, was so excited to finally have her first Eclectic Eye frame. She went with the Anne et Valentin Arcade frame in dark grey. The interesting angles gave her something funky and is a great staple for her eyewear wardrobe. She already has her eyes on other frames, but we can all agree Shannon will be getting many compliments on this frame!
