The three F’s in the optical industry are at play every day in our work as opticians. They are fashion, fit and function, and everyone who picks out a pair of glasses at Eclectic Eye will consider these three important standards.
FASHION:
Glasses should be as fashionable as you should choose! Frames can allow you to express yourself, and, of course, it’s always a plus to have a pair to match every outfit.
The definition of fashion depends on the wearer. It can mean keeping up with the trends, or it can simply be an extension of your personality and style. It can be as minimalistic as you want, or it can be a flashy statement piece!
FIT:
My fellow eyewear architects and myself take fit very seriously. It is our duty to tell you if a frame doesn’t fit properly. We will either adjust the fit of the frame or steer you in another direction to a frame that fits better. Keep in mind that a frame should fit the bridge of your nose to avoid uncomfortable pressure. Frames should not squeeze the sides of your head and the temples should be long enough to contour behind your ears, (unless it is a “library temple” which can fit straight back on the head). If a frame doesn’t fit properly, you will feel discomfort after a couple hours and simply won’t want to wear it. Remember, no one is symmetrical! We almost always have to adjust any frame so that it will not sit crooked.
FUNCTION:
Simply put, how do you want your glasses to function within your lifestyle? Here are some important function questions you can ask yourself before you begin your frame search. After answering these questions, you will have a better understanding of which frame will function best for your specific lifestyle needs.
- Do you want something that will be compatible with your active lifestyle?
- Do you want something professional and classic?
- Do you want something bold, interesting and outside of the box?
- Do you want something with color?
- Do you want something lightweight and comfortable?
- Do you want a frame that disappears and the focus is more on you and not the glasses?
- Do you want something dressy, casual or can be both?
