Eclectic Eye Presents “Nature of the Line” by Andrew Williams

Throughout his collegiate career, in which Williams received two Bachelor of Fine Arts from Western Kentucky University and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Memphis, he visited 48 states. During his travels, Williams experienced national parks, roadside attractions and cities of all sizes. He has also explored Europe and Central America, which gave him more insight into the historical experiences of human ancestors.

While analyzing these experiences in art, Williams looked for patterns of chaos and order to create, destroy and recreate layers of drawings or stackable parts. His experiences in life and collective history research has led him to believe that everything is connected through an infinite number of recurring cause and effect cycles. His art embraces the chaotic process of ceramic while creating abstract parts that reference the building blocks of life. Whether this is a viewer’s first time experiencing the installation or the 20th, one can embrace the variety of perceptions in which it can be viewed.
